In the true traditional of the great American landscape photographer Ansel Adams and many a great portrait photographer such as Richard Avedon and Diane Arbus we found these great wedding images by a US photographer Doug Boutwell. Doug got in touch with some couples planning on getting married asking if he could produce some personal work at their wedding. His idea was quite unorthodox, rather than turning up with a small camera and a bag full of lenses; he arrived with just the one camera with one lens mounted on a tripod.
The camera used is very slow to operate and takes just the one shot before having to reload the film. The negative produced is a massive 10"x8" so the quality is amazing!
The images are stunningly beautiful in their simplicity of just the subject standing infront of the camera. From experience we know the stresses involved in working with large format cameras let alone taking one to a wedding - our bags just are not big enough!!
These images are a celebration to the work that can be done with a large format camera, a lot of skill and a patient subject!!
Anyhow, here are a few of the images by Doug. See more on his website by clicking here
