Picture of the day #24
This picture of Kurt and Nat was taken outside Coventry Cathedral shortly after their marriage. The old cathedral in Coventry was heavily bombed in the Second World War and now there are only ruins left and the original bell tower. A new cathedral (St Michaels) was built in its place, and this bronze sculpture by Sir Jacob Epstein is of 'St Michael subduing the devil, constituting a powerful symbol of the triumphant resurrection of the cathedral despite the powers of evil and destruction'.
We had a great time photographing Kurt and Natalie in and around the ruins of the old cathedral with great contrast between their white wedding outfits against the decaying and burnt out architecture.
So today, not only have you seen a great picture but also had a short history and art lesson! Tomorrow we will hit you with something a bit lighter - I've got just the picture lined up..........
